Treatment/Procedure: Ankle Fusion

Also called: Ankle Arthrodesis

Fusing the bones of your ankle together is typically the last option when dealing with arthritis in the ankle.

Arthritis of the ankle may come in a couple of different forms but the results are almost always the same— pain, swelling and reduced range of motion.

Ankle fusion surgery fuses two or more of the ankle bones into one to prevent future pain and swelling. The fusion may involve plates, screws or other hardware. In some cases, this may be done using minimally-invasive techniques.
