Clinical Biography

Dr. Mauricio Garcia Saenz de Sicilia is a fellowship-trained transplant hepatologist at UAMS Health. Dr. Garcia Saenz de Sicilia has been instrumental in the development and improvement of the liver tumor and liver transplant programs currently in place at UAMS of which he is also a member. He is credited with being the key contributor in the creation of the liver tumor program as well as the Ascites Clinic. In conjunction with his clinical duties, Dr. Garcia Saenz de Sicilia performs patient-based research related to liver disease and liver transplantation.

Academic Biography

Dr. Mauricio Garcia Saenz de Sicilia is an associate professor of internal medicine and the division chief of gastroenterology at UAMS.

He is fellowship-trained in advanced transplant hepatology from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He received his medical degree from the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico and completed his residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in gastroenterology at the Instituto Nacional De Ciencias Medicas y Nutricion in Mexico City. He is board-certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology and a member of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases.
