Minimally invasive hip surgery usually involves one or two small incisions. Compared to traditional hip surgery, it involves less cutting of the tissue surrounding the hip. Your orthopaedic surgeon then uses specialized instruments to perform the surgery through the smaller incision(s). This can mean less damage to soft tissue, and for some patients it can result in a faster and less painful recovery. Minimally invasive hip surgery can describe several variations of existing hip surgeries.
