COVID-19 Update

Clinic Reopened

Telemedicine Visits Encouraged

In an effort to keep our patients and health care workers safe, we offer virtual visits and phone visits for new and existing patients.

Before Coming to UAMS

If you have any symptoms of COVID-19, think you may have been exposed to someone with COVID-19, or have tested positive for COVID-19, call the UAMS appointment center at (501) 686-8000 to reschedule your appointment. You may also ask if your appointment can be done by phone or video.

Get more information about symptoms to look for.

What to Expect at Your Appointment

UAMS has safety measures in place to protect our patients and employees. Everyone who comes to UAMS is required to wear a mask and pass a health screening before entering the building. You will also have your temperature taken. Please wear a clean mask to your clinic visit, and do not remove it until asked to do so by a UAMS employee.

Learn more about the safety measures we are taking.

Outpatient Visitor Guidelines

Patients must come to their visit alone. A friend or family member may come to an appointment only if the patient is under 18 or is not mentally or physically able to go to the appointment alone. You are welcome to include a friend or family member in your appointment by phone or video chat.

If you need a wheelchair from your car to your appointment, transport staff may be available at the main UAMS campus. Contact your clinic for more information.

Please visit our COVID-19 resources to learn more about what to expect at your appointment.

About Orthopaedic Clinic — Shackleford

Aches and pains don’t have to be a “normal” part of aging or the result of injuries. When your discomfort keeps you from doing the things you love to do, it’s time to see one of our orthopaedic (orthopedic) experts.

Our services include nonsurgical and surgical treatment for:

  • Hip and knee
  • Foot and ankle
  • Sports medicine and injuries

Using our unsurpassed level of experience and expertise, our team provides you with the most comprehensive care possible. Whatever your orthopedic challenge, our physicians and staff work together to ensure that you receive complete care, with a personalized approach to your repair and recovery.

Prescription Information

Please ask your pharmacy to send a refill request to our clinic, or you can request prescription refills during your appointment. If you originally filled your prescription at the UAMS Outpatient Pharmacy, you can also refill your prescription online using MyChart.

To speak to a nurse, call the clinic directly.

Appointment Information

Some services in our Orthopaedic Clinic require a referral for an appointment. Please call the clinic to find out if a referral is required before you make an appointment.

Although UAMS does not require a physician referral for some services in this clinic, some insurance providers require a referral for specialty care. Please check with your insurance provider before requesting an appointment.

What to Bring to Your Appointment

For your first appointment, please bring a photo ID and your insurance card along with a list of any medications you’re taking, including over-the-counter medications. You should also bring any medical records you can provide, including slides or test results from other clinics.

For future appointments, please provide updated medical and insurance information.
