About Dr. Raney

Clinical Biography

Veronica Raney, M.D., joined the Child Study Center as the medical director in 2019. Dr. Raney is a former resident in the UAMS Department of Psychiatry. She formerly served as a psychiatrist at Youth Home in Little Rock, Ark.

Dr. Raney's Academic Background

Academic Biography

Dr. Raney graduated from Hendrix College in Conway, Ark., with a Bachelor of Arts with Distinction degree in chemistry in 1986. She received a master’s in organic chemistry from Vanderbilt University in 1991 and graduated from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 2011. She completed her general psychiatry residency at UAMS in 2014 and went on to complete fellowships child and adolescent psychiatry and neurodevelopmental disabilities at UAMS. She received the Irving C. Ringdahl Award in 2017, given annually to a Child and Adolescent faculty member who has distinguished himself/herself in innovative teaching and clinical skills, excellence in patient care, unyielding ethics and compassion, community outreach involvement, and/or going above and beyond in all aspects within the clinical/academic career. Dr. Raney was presented with the John E. Peters Award in 2016, given in honor and recognition of the second-year child and adolescent fellow who has distinguished himself/herself by excelling and surpassing the complete performance requirements for the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship with enviable aptitude.
