About Dr. Downs
Clinical Biography
Dr. Michael Downs was born in Hope, Arkansas, and attended Ouachita Baptist University. He earned his doctorate from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS).
He became board certified in family practice in 1985 and received a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine in 1995. He came to the UAMS AHEC Southwest in 2002.
He is married and has three children and two grandchildren. His interests include gardening and Civil War history. He enjoys spending time with his family.

I had a very good and thorough visit, but it wasn't with Dr. Downs. He's the main doctor, but there are teaching doctors underneath him. And it was another doctor I saw, but I can't recall his name right now. So I just wanted to tell you that so you could correct it on whatever it needs to be corrected on. Thank you so very much. We normally have a non-problematic experience at UAMS and yesterday was. I different for the most part. The doctor was very nice, but you could tell kids weren't his specialty. He did a thorough exam on my son and then it was time for one of the nurses to come back and administer my son's shots. We waited at least 30 minutes after the doctor left. I eventually went back to the front to ask if anyone was coming. The lady at the checkout desk was kind enough to find the nurse for me and about 5 minutes later, she came to administer the shots. Our appointment was at [TIME] and we didn't leave until [HOURS LATER and] after 5.
