Why UAMS? When searching for a residency program, I was looking for an environment that would both challenge me and provide the support necessary for my personal and professional development – UAMS offers the perfect balance of both! As a Level 1 Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center, UAMS allows me to contribute to the care of some of the most complex and critically ill patients in the region. This exposure to a diverse patient population and wide range of disease states will strengthen my clinical knowledge, critical thinking, and decision-making skills. I am especially excited to train alongside other residents, collaborate with an interdisciplinary healthcare team, and learn from dedicated, experienced preceptors committed to my growth as a clinical pharmacist.
Why PGY2 in Critical Care? I chose to specialize in critical care because I was drawn to the fast paced, high-pressure environment where making real-time lifesaving interventions pushes me to think critically and act decisively. I find it challenging and rewarding to care for the most acutely ill patients, especially in situations that require calm under pressure, confident action. What makes this area even more rewarding is the strong emphasis on interdisciplinary collaboration. I genuinely enjoy working as part of a cohesive team, where each member brings their unique expertise. Contributing to a shared goal and knowing that our collective efforts can help critically ill patients recover during their most vulnerable moments fuels my passion for this specialty.
