Dr. Felix Tellez-Avila is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology for UAMS. He is an internist who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the digestive organs including the stomach, bowels, liver and gallbladder. Dr. Tellez-Avila treats conditions such as abdominal pain, ulcers, diarrhea, cancer and jaundice along with many others. He has completed extensive training for internal medicine, gastroenterology and advanced therapeutic endoscopy. In some cases, he uses endoscopic ultrasound procedures to assist in diagnosing digestive disease.

Dr. Tellez-Avila uses advanced endoscopic techniques, including endoscopic ultrasound and therapeutic endoscopy, to treat diseases of the digestive organs including the stomach, bowels, liver and gallbladder. He also uses his extensive training to determine the causes of abdominal pain, diarrhea, ulcers, cancer and jaundice.

Academic Biography
Felix Tellez-Avila, M.D., Ph.D., is part of the Department of Internal Medicine as an assistant professor in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology for UAMS.
He comes to UAMS from the Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Department of the Salvador Zubiran National Institute of Health Sciences in Mexico City, Mexico where he was a staff physician as well as the research coordinator. Dr. Tellez-Avila received his medical degree from the Universidad Michoacana, then completed residency training in internal medicine and gastroenterology, advanced therapeutic endoscopy and endoscopic ultrasound training from the Salvador Zubiran National Institute of Health Sciences.
