About Cardiology Clinic in Midtown
Our skilled team of cardiology professionals is prepared to get to the heart of any cardiovascular problem, from heart disease to heart attack.
Since UAMS is a teaching hospital, our doctors have access to the best technology and equipment. Our doctors are all experts in the field. One of our cardiologists is among a handful of doctors in the nation who performs an advanced procedure called balloon valvuloplasty, which is done to repair a scarred mitral heart valve in patients with rheumatic heart disease. This procedure was recently performed on a woman in the middle of her fifth month of pregnancy who came to UAMS Health with severe heart failure. By performing this procedure, open heart surgery was avoided, which would have posed a very serious risk to the patient and her baby.
UAMS Health cardiologists and surgeons have performed hybrid procedures that combine open-heart surgery with stent treatments.
