The UAMS Health Medical and Surgical Weight Management Clinic helps willing and committed patients lose weight and improve their weight related complications. Our surgical and medical teams offer two different and individualized approaches to help you achieve your personal health goals. Our team will help you decide which approach is the best for your individualized needs.

Medical Weight Management Option

Medical weight management is a non-surgical, comprehensive approach combining lifestyle changes, behavioral therapy, medications, and professional guidance to achieve weight loss. Our team develops a personalized plan to help you gradually lose weight and provide education to help you remain your healthiest. This is usually a first-line option for those without life-threatening obesity-related conditions.

Surgical Weight Management Option

The UAMS Surgical Weight Management Program provides effective surgical solutions for weight loss and the management of obesity-related health conditions. Our dedicated team collaborates closely with the UAMS Medical Weight Management specialists to develop a personalized care plan tailored to each patient’s health needs. Through a comprehensive approach that combines nutrition, exercise, and psychosocial support, our program is designed to help you achieve your weight loss goals and enhance your overall health.

Prescription Information

To refill a prescription, please ask your pharmacy to send an eScribe request to our clinic, or you can request a refill during your appointment. If you originally filled your prescription at the UAMS Health Outpatient Pharmacy, you can also refill your prescription online using MyChart.

Parking Information

Parking is available in Parking 3, a parking deck at the corner of South Cedar Street and West Capitol Avenue. Please remember to bring your parking stub with you to the clinic for validation and free parking.

Valet parking is available in front of the UAMS Health Outpatient Center for a $10 fee. If you leave after 5:30 p.m., call UAMS police at 501-686-7777 for your keys.

Request a referral if they meet criteria and they will be contacted to get scheduled.

What to Bring to Your Appointment

For your first appointment, please bring a photo ID and your insurance card along with a list of any medications you’re taking, including over-the-counter medications. Please arrive 15 mins early to fill out a medical intake form.

UAMS Health MyChart

UAMS Health MyChart is a free online patient portal that gives you secure, 24-hour access to your health information. You can view lab and test results, send messages to your doctor, make appointments, pre-register for visits, refill prescriptions, and pay your bills. New patients can also register for MyChart and schedule their first appointment at participating clinical locations using the same simple tool—making it easier than ever to get started with UAMS Health. Ask your provider or clinic staff to send you a sign-up link by email or text. Once you receive the link, you’ll have eight hours to sign up using just your name and date of birth.
