About Kids First in Searcy
The UAMS Kids First location in Searcy serves over 70 special needs children and employs over 30 staff and contractors from the local community. The director of our clinic is Mindy Holcomb, M.Ed.
The History of UAMS Kids First in Searcy
UAMS Kids First Searcy began in temporary housing in one large room with a local Physical Therapy provider. Two local physicians, Drs. Staggs and Davidson, voiced interest in building a suitable home for UAMS Kids First and were met with local support from the community. The clinic was soon filled to capacity, and in 2003 an expansion was completed. It included a total of 8 treatment rooms, 2 playrooms, offices and other needed amenities.
Appointment Information
Evaluation for enrollment at Kids First requires a referral from the child’s primary care physician.
Through the intake process, our interprofessional team of early childhood professionals, occupational, speech, and physical therapists, dietitians, and nurses works with families to conduct evaluations and collect information regarding the child and family’s strengths and needs. Results from the assessments are reviewed by the Kids First team to determine eligibility for services.
