Each UAMS Kids First clinic has one or more licensed nurses, who provide pediatric nursing care for children enrolled at Kids First. Our nurses provide services such as medication administration, tube feedings, catheterizations, or diabetes management. In addition to scheduled procedures, Kids First nurses communicate the child’s health needs to everyone involved with the child’s healthcare – the child’s primary care physician, subspecialists such as neurology or orthopedics, or other interprofessional team members such as LPNs and nursing assistants, therapists and dietitians.
Using Family-Centered Care principles, our nurses help each family learn the best ways to maximize their child’s health. All of our nurses are American Heart Association BLS instructors who teach CPR and First Aid courses for all of our staff.
