Clinical Resource: What Are Cataracts?

If you think you might have issues with cataracts, our highly-skilled doctors at the UAMS Jones Eye Institute can help. Providing cutting-edge medical care, your ophthalmologist and will conduct a thorough exam to evaluate the best options for you.

A cataract is a cloudy area within the lens of the eye. Signs that you may have cataracts can include symptoms of decreased night vision, halos around lights, discolored vision, or sensitivity to glare. Currently there is no medical treatment to reverse or prevent the development of cataracts. After they form, cataract surgery to remove the cataracts from your eyes can help you see clearly again.

Cataract surgery is one of the most common and successful procedures performed. To learn more about cataract surgery, please make an appointment for a general eye exam. Or visit the Jones Eye Institute Clinic page for more information.
