Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) is a short-term treatment to help patients understand their underlying interpersonal issues like unresolved grief, changes in social or work roles, conflicts with significant others and problems related to others.
It is designed to help patients learn healthy coping skills, appropriate expressions of emotion, how to improve communication and how they relate to others.
It is most commonly used to treat patients with depression.
