Treatment/Procedure: Implantable Heart Devices

Also called: Pacemaker; Defibrillator; His Bundle Pacing (HBP); Leadless Heart Pacemaker

To correct abnormal heart rhythms (arrhythmias) and help your heart beat more efficiently, your doctor may recommend a device implant. The most common device implants are pacemakers and defibrillators.

Pacemakers

Patients with symptoms from slow heart rates may need a pacemaker. We implant pacemakers using His bundle pacing, which is a technique that helps prevent negative side effects. For patients who qualify, we offer leadless pacemakers. We also perform lead extraction, which is necessary when leads are malfunctioning or get infected.

Defibrillators

A defibrillator is a device that is implanted to prevent your heart from suddenly stopping. We specialize in implanting defibrillators that help maintain the correct rhythm with each heartbeat. These patients are checked regularly to make sure their device is functioning the right way.
