About Dr. Bruffett

Clinical Biography

Wayne Bruffett, M.D., is a board-certified, fellowship-training orthopaedic spine surgeon who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of spine conditions and injuries, including adult degenerative disorders of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar region.  He sees patients at The Orthopaedic & Spine Hospital’s Specialty Clinic and the UAMS Health Orthopaedic & Spine Clinic in North Little Rock.

Dr. Bruffett knew at an early age that he wanted to become a doctor and credits his parents with instilling in him a great work ethic. He grew up all over the south and obtained his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees from Baylor University in Waco, Texas.  He earned his medical degree from the Baylor College of Medicine at the Texas Medical Center in Houston and completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). He then completed an orthopaedic spine fellowship at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver, where he received comprehensive training in the surgical treatment of both pediatric and adult spinal conditions. Upon completion of his fellowship, he returned to Arkansas to begin his private practice in 1998.  Dr. Bruffett joined UAMS from OrthoArkansas, where he had been in practice from 2019.

Dr. Bruffett is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the Arkansas Orthopaedic Society.

Outside of the clinic and operating room, Dr. Bruffett spends his free time being a fantastic dad to four beautiful children, a loving husband, and working on the family farm, as he continues to exemplify what his parents set forth in him—to work hard and derive meaning and satisfaction from what you do.

I had experience with Dr. Bruffett since he did my lower back surgery while a part of Ortho Arkansas's staff. He clearly explained what was happening with this pinched nerve, why I was having difficulty with both legs and what could be done about it. He had my best interest in mind by explaining why surgery was not going to be an option and was sympathetic to my plight, wishing me the best possible outcome with the pain specialists.
