About Dr. Vega Lemus

Vivian Paulinne Vega Lemus, M.D., is a pediatric gastroenterologist who provides compassionate, family-centered care for children and adolescents with gastrointestinal and nutritional conditions. She works closely with patients and their families to understand their concerns, develop individualized treatment plans, and help children achieve better health and quality of life.

Her clinical interests include intestinal failure, short gut syndrome, and pediatric nutrition.

Dr. Vega is passionate about providing culturally responsive care and improving access to quality health care for children and families in underserved communities. She strives to help families feel informed and supported throughout their child’s treatment.

A native Spanish speaker, she is committed to creating a welcoming environment where children and families feel heard, respected, and comfortable discussing their health.

Dr. Vega Lemus' Academic Background

Dr. Vega is a pediatric gastroenterologist with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and Arkansas Children’s Hospital.

She earned her medical degree from Universidad San Carlos School of Medicine in Guatemala City, Guatemala, in 2013. She completed her pediatric residency at NYC Grossman School of Medicine in 2021 and her fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in 2024. She also earned a Master of Public Health in Community Health Sciences, with a focus on urban and immigrant health, from SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in 2024.

Dr. Vega Lemus completed advanced fellowship training in pediatric nutrition at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

Her academic and research interests include intestinal failure, short gut syndrome, pediatric nutrition, gastrointestinal disorders, and health disparities.
