I'm very disappointed that UAMS cannot keep their specialists. I really like Dr. Kota. She listens, she understands, I can tell she knows her specialty and I would prefer to keep her.

Again the reason I was there was for a diagnosis on hands, ankles and feet. There was more attention paid to whether or not I had lupus.

However, I want to cry losing my Rheumatologist. I spent years with Dr. [NAME] with no improvement in pain or stiffness. I got to the place, I was in bed all the time. I moved to UAMS for Dr. Kota and now she is leaving. She has gotten me to rhe place where I have little pain or stiffness. She gave me my life back. I will say the LPN at Dr. [NAME]'s wouldn't let a message sit there for 10 days and prescription refills out there for several days. Don't you all monitor overdue messages on My Chart. This clinic will need oversight a while.

I was told by Dr to see her in 6 months, then told when making appointment she was leaving in December.

I have been being seen at another clinic for over 10 years for fibromyalgia and recently tested positive for RA. That provider recommended vitamin therapy to address deficiencies to help me feel better before providing medication. Dr. Kota was dismissive, didn't recommend anything, just told me I didn't need to be seen again because I didn't have symptoms right now (they're worse in the winter and I have been on vitamins to help), "I have no medical journals to direct you to except my conversations with older nurses, but you'll feel better after a hysterectomy". She told me my issues were caused by anxiety and hormones. Anxiety and hormones I did not have 10 years ago when I began seeking treatment for pain. I developed a fibroid 2 years ago and anxiety after my stroke in 2024. I feel better now than when I began seeking treatment for pain. This visit was a complete waste of time and the resident was pushy, overbearing, asked me questions that were in my chart I had sent over, and had no bedside manner. Neither did she. When I nicely brought it up explaining I was overwhelmed by him and almost left, she said "it's our job to ask the questions". Yes, but HOW you do it matters. She also wrote my daughters positive lupus test off saying even though she is showing symptoms, she did not have ENOUGH symptoms. No alternatives were suggested. At least she said she would follow up with her unlike me, where she said I didn't need to see anyone and my medication could be managed by my PCP. I felt unheard, belittled, and was disrespected at this appointment. I see many wonderful doctors at UAMS and I was shocked at the treatment and am extremely disappointed I cannot have all my care consolidated at one place because of the poor care I received from Dr. Kota and Dr. [NAME].
