COVID-19 Update
Clinic Reopened
Telemedicine Visits Encouraged
In an effort to keep our patients and health care workers safe, we offer virtual visits and phone visits for new and existing patients.
Before Coming to UAMS
If you have any symptoms of COVID-19, think you may have been exposed to someone with COVID-19, or have tested positive for COVID-19, call the UAMS appointment center at (501) 686-8000 to reschedule your appointment. You may also ask if your appointment can be done by phone or video.
Patients who have had a COVID-19 infection may have in-person appointments at UAMS 21 days after infection or a positive COVID test, as long as your symptoms are improving. Please call the clinic where your appointment is scheduled if you have any questions about coming for an in-person visit. You may be able to have an appointment by phone or video while you are waiting for clearance for an in-person visit.
What to Expect at Your Appointment
UAMS has safety measures in place to protect our patients and employees. Everyone who comes to UAMS is required to wear a mask and pass a health screening before entering the building. You will also have your temperature taken. Please wear a clean mask to your clinic visit, and do not remove it until asked to do so by a UAMS employee.
Outpatient Visitor Guidelines
Beginning March 3, 2021, one person may come to your appointment with you. You may also include a friend or family member in your appointment by phone or video chat.
If you need a wheelchair from your car to your appointment, transport staff may be available at the main UAMS campus. Contact your clinic for more information.
Please visit our COVID-19 resources to learn more about what to expect at your appointment.
About Rheumatology Clinic
In our Rheumatology Clinic, UAMS doctors who specialize in rheumatology and immunology are committed to caring for patients diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, the most crippling form of arthritis, as well as other diseases of the joints, tendons and connective tissues in the body.
At UAMS, we will chart a course to provide you with effective, personalized care. Since we are a teaching hospital, we are on top of the latest medications and treatments to help you live life to the fullest.
All of our rheumatology doctors are board-certified in their specialty and in internal medicine. They are among the top doctors in Arkansas for diagnosing and treating rheumatic diseases. We are experts in the treatment of all forms of inflammatory arthritis, as well as autoimmune diseases such as lupus.
Choosing Rheumatology Care at UAMS
We have access to powerful imaging tools, including computed tomography (CT) scanning and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), along with a complete battery of tests for diagnosis and treatment. For nonsurgical treatments, we have an excellent team of therapists, occupational therapists and physiatrists at UAMS. When surgical options are required, our rheumatologists work in close collaboration with their UAMS colleagues in orthopedic surgery and hand therapy to ensure comprehensive care.
To continue our quest to offer the best care for our patients, UAMS is opening a new infusion center to treat our rheumatoid arthritis patients, improving patient convenience and access. Please contact us to learn more about our rheumatology and immunology services.
