About Dr. Lopez
Clinical Biography
After her fellowship, Maya Lopez, M.D., was a faculty member for two years at Rhode Island Hospital before moving to UAMS as clinical instructor in the Section of Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics (DBP) in 2006. She was promoted to assistant professor in 2007, to associate professor in 2013, and to full professor in 2020.
Dr. Lopez serves as associate program director of the Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics Fellowship. From 2018 to 2023, she served as the medical director of the James L. Dennis Development Center before advancing into the role of section chief for Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics in July, 2023.
Dr. Lopez does her work because she believes in the potential of each child. “Who knows what remarkable things children can do when they have a strong mind and a good heart?”

Dr. Lopez is the Principal Investigator for the Arkansas Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring (AR ADDM) project and is Project Leader of Healthy Child Care Arkansas (HCCAR).
