Matthew W. Maready, M.D. Pediatric Emergency Physician

Academic Biography

Dr. Maready was a graduate of University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Medicine where he also completed his residency in Pediatrics.  After this, he traveled to Akron, OH where he completed a three-year fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine before returning to UMMC for a fellowship in Emergency Ultrasound.  This training was blended with both pediatric and adult emergency training.  As faculty at UMMC in the Pediatric Emergency Department, he became the Director of Emergency Ultrasound for the division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine.  He later served as first the associate program director and then the program director for the Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellowship at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.  During his time at UMMC, he was heavily involved in resident education for Pediatric and Emergency Medicine residents and students, receiving awards for teaching and service.  In 2025, he joined Arkansas Children’s Hospital as the Medical Director for Point-of-Care Ultrasound and the UAMS Department of Emergency Medicine as Ultrasound Faculty.
