About Dr. Deneke
Clinical Biography
Dr. Deneke initially joined the faculty at UAMS in 2005 as an Assistant Professor of Medicine for the Division of General Internal Medicine. While faculty, he served as Medical Director of the ambulatory teaching clinic for internal medicine residents and as the Associate Practice Director for UAMS Internal Medicine Clinics. After five years, Dr. Deneke stepped down as faculty to pursue additional training in gastroenterology and hepatology. He rejoined the UAMS faculty in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology in 2014. He is currently the program director for the UAMS Gastroenterology Fellowship Program. He is a part of the UAMS Liver Transplant team and also operates the UAMS Fatty Liver Disease Clinic.
His clinical interests include liver disease, with a focus on nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, complications of liver disease, and liver transplantation.

The nurse was extremely helpful and explained everything and took care of all the issues I had. And then the doctors explained everything in a manner I could understand it and listened to what I had to say and answered all my questions and came up with a plan of care, good care.

Well, honestly, I live over 2 hours away from doctor and my appointment was at 1:30 and I did not go back till after 3:00. It makes it hard when I have to drive a good ways to be kept waiting that long. I understand things come up, however, maybe not schedule so many people on same day. Just my opinion.

The nurses and staff at UAMS transplant clinic are more like family than medical workers. They all know you by first and last name before you check in, they remember your situation with your family and personal events, they ask about them and they follow up! A lovely group of people. They also go out of their way to accommodate you if you're early..., or late.

When I went in to check in, there was a woman replacing the receptionist because she was on lunch and she told me she checked me in and she did not. And so it made me a little late for my appointment and I was not happy.
