About Dr. Deneke
Clinical Biography
Dr. Deneke initially joined the faculty at UAMS in 2005 as an Assistant Professor of Medicine for the Division of General Internal Medicine. While faculty, he served as Medical Director of the ambulatory teaching clinic for internal medicine residents and as the Associate Practice Director for UAMS Internal Medicine Clinics. After five years, Dr. Deneke stepped down as faculty to pursue additional training in gastroenterology and hepatology. He rejoined the UAMS faculty in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology in 2014. He is currently the program director for the UAMS Gastroenterology Fellowship Program. He is a part of the UAMS Liver Transplant team and also operates the UAMS Fatty Liver Disease Clinic.
His clinical interests include liver disease, with a focus on nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, complications of liver disease, and liver transplantation.

Would recommend this practice with the caveat of the extremely long wait time.My appointment was on a Monday and I understand that this is a busy day, but my appointment time was 2:15 and I left the clinic after 4;30. In fact, the Fellow left the clinic before I did. So, my over two hours in clinic involved 5-10 minutes with the Fellow and less than 5 minutes with the Doctor. I did schedule another appointment, and I requested a day other that Monday or Wednesday--another busy day I was told by the check-out person. However, it appears the Fellow or Doctor, or both, only have Monday appointments. This seemed odd to me and the check-out person.

I saw a Fellow Dr. [NAME]. Personally, I was not happy with his "bedside manner". He often interrupted my explanations and seemed to be listening to answer versus to hear what I was really saying/concerned about. I personally would rather see Dr. Deneke or someone else at my next visit.
