It took almost 3 hours just to see the doctor. He left me to be the very last patient. They were cleaning all the rooms around me, and I feel like he did that on purpose because I had to miss my original surgery date because my insurance canceled. Which I told the front desk that, I guess they fell to communicate, but I could sense that they weren't happy. And I feel like that's why I had to wait so long.

Although the dr is obviously intelligent and knowledgeable, he listens to his nurse instead of me. She took the information and made the decision. He just affirmed it. Now I can see she is smart and capable. However, I wonder if both of them just discounted my information because of my age. It seems to me that possibly because I am old I cannot be correct. Maybe the images got switched. You see the radiologist could not see clearly so the doctor ordered more images. Those images showed that L5 slips over the sacrum. Your doctor suggested that if it had been a problem Doctor Seale of St Vincent would have corrected it when he did the other operations. My theory is that it slipped about four months ago when I started having a lot more pain. The previous image I saw was of about 40% slippage and a bone spur. I don't want more surgeries. However, it seems to me that fixing the problem makes more sense than getting an implant to control pain. That implant brings its own problems. For example, the wires are put in the spine. Now I adore Dr Petersen and believe her to be a highly intelligent and capable surgeon. But the procedure requires a unit similar to a pacemaker in my flank. I have to recharge it and Control another unit for programming the pattern of signals to the brain. The surgeon, who has a very good reputation, said the back surgery would be life threatening. I told him I didn't care. I can't do significant work or walk for an extended amount of time. My old life is ruined. The surgeon said he would have to "peel" the plate off blood vessels and there would be danger of uncontrolled bleeding. This may be true. But I believe he did not want to get involved with another surgeon's work. I never suggested Dr [NAME] did not do a good job at the time. If he didn't, he made a mistake. We all do in our work. He has two kids in college and even though his wife has a good income, I would not take him to court. I just think the L5 slippage happened MORE recently thus meriting more attention than it got previously. I told the surgeon that the images he was looking at were not the ones I saw. He did not investigate. If he had done so, I believe he may have reached a different decision. Thank you for this opportunity to voice my concerns. Maybe explaining this situation will help another old woman.

Bumpass was very rude. Saw that I was overweight and dismissed my concerns. He then proceeded to order a steroid injection for mart. IF he would have read my chart he would know I cant have steroids. If I ever do have surgery there is no way I would trust that man with being competent enough to perform the surgery. Bumpass is the only dr at UAMS that i have had a bad experience with.
