If you are in need of urgent or emergency care, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency department at your local hospital.

If you are sick or have a minor injury and need to talk to someone right away, you can access UAMS HealthNow for a video visit with a UAMS Health provider 8 a.m. – 8 p.m., seven days a week.

COVID-19 Update

Reduced In-Person Appointment Days

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our clinic has temporarily reduced its in-person operations to Tuesdays and Thursdays only.

Telemedicine Visits

Our physicians continue to treat patients via telemedicine visits during our usual Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. hours.

About the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Clinic in the Spine Institute

In our Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Clinic, otherwise known as physiatry services, UAMS Health experts provide treatment of the whole patient so that you can reach your full potential and live life to the fullest.

The Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Clinic provides comprehensive consultation, evaluation and rehabilitative services for neurological conditions, chronic and debilitating illnesses, and traumatic injuries through the coordinated efforts of its physicians and therapeutic service partners for collaborative approach to rehabilitation. Examples include:

  • Amputations
  • Neuromuscular disorders
  • Musculoskeletal disorders
  • Chronic pain
  • Spinal cord injury
  • Geriatrics
  • Vocational
  • Major medical equipment needs

Instead of focusing on one part of the body, we target development of a comprehensive program for putting the pieces of your life back together — physically, socially, emotionally and vocationally — after injury or disease. We use many different patient care strategies and interventions and aim to improve your personal potential, as well as reduce impairments and disabilities.

Parking Information

Parking is available in Parking 3 at the corner of Cedar and Capitol. Valet parking is available in front of the Spine Institute for a fee.

Appointment Information

Appointments in the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Clinic may require a referral, based on your insurance requirements. Please contact your primary care doctor or visit one of our primary care providers to obtain a referral.

If you prefer to call and request an appointment, please call our appointment number for new patients, returning patients and referral appointments.

What to Bring to Your Appointment

For your first appointment, please bring a picture ID and your insurance card. The UAMS Health medical staff will also need information about any medications you’re taking, including over the counter medications. You should also bring any medical records you can provide. Also, bring a completed copy of the Patient Health Questionnaire sent to you after you set your first appointment.

For future appointments, please advise us of any changes in your insurance information or your medications. This clinic also requires that all new patients pay for their first visit at the appointment

UAMS Health MyChart

UAMS Health MyChart is a free online patient portal that gives you secure, 24-hour access to your health information. You can view lab and test results, send messages to your doctor, make appointments, pre-register for visits, refill prescriptions, and pay your bills. New patients can also register for MyChart and schedule their first appointment  at participating clinical locations using the same simple tool—making it easier than ever to get started with UAMS Health. Ask your provider or clinic staff to send you a sign-up link by email or text. Once you receive the link, you’ll have eight hours to sign up using just your name and date of birth.
