COVID-19 Update

Clinic Reopened

Telemedicine Visits Encouraged

In an effort to keep our patients and health care workers safe, we offer virtual visits and phone visits for new and existing patients.

Before Coming to UAMS

If you have any symptoms of COVID-19, think you may have been exposed to someone with COVID-19, or have tested positive for COVID-19, call the UAMS appointment center at (501) 686-8000 to reschedule your appointment. You may also ask if your appointment can be done by phone or video.

Patients who have had a COVID-19 infection may have in-person appointments at UAMS 21 days after infection or a positive COVID test, as long as your symptoms are improving. Please call the clinic where your appointment is scheduled if you have any questions about coming for an in-person visit. You may be able to have an appointment by phone or video while you are waiting for clearance for an in-person visit.

What to Expect at Your Appointment

UAMS has safety measures in place to protect our patients and employees. Everyone who comes to UAMS is required to wear a mask and pass a health screening before entering the building. You will also have your temperature taken. Please wear a clean mask to your clinic visit, and do not remove it until asked to do so by a UAMS employee.

Outpatient Visitor Guidelines

Beginning March 3, 2021, one person may come to your appointment with you. You may also include a friend or family member in your appointment by phone or video chat.

If you need a wheelchair from your car to your appointment, transport staff may be available at the main UAMS campus. Contact your clinic for more information.

Please visit our COVID-19 resources to learn more about what to expect at your appointment.

About Infectious Diseases Clinic

UAMS is the state’s go-to resource for infectious disease information, diagnosis and treatment.

The infectious diseases experts at UAMS provide telephone consultations to Arkansas practitioners. Those calls yield the rapid identification of a wide range of infectious conditions, helping doctors inform and treat patients in all corners of the state.

The infectious diseases outpatient referral service has been a mainstay at UAMS for nearly a decade. Patients are seen and treated with the help of state-of-the-art clinical care and equipment and can be referred back to their personal physician.
