UAMS Health - Sensory Countdown

Transcript

When feelings get really intense you might feel disconnected or overwhelmed. To slow down those thoughts and feelings and reconnect, use the 54321 method using each of your five senses. Notice what’s going on around; you let’s do it together; look for five things you see right now, find four things you could touch, count three things you can hear. Now notice two things you can smell, finally note one thing you could
taste like the gum you’re chewing or the snack you had earlier. Remember you can use a countdown to slow down your mind and feelings anytime you feel stressed or distracted.
