Transcript

My name is Dr. Robert Martin. I’m an Orthopaedic  Foot and Ankle Surgeon here at UAMS. I think one of the most rewarding things about my specialty  is that we see immediate outcomes. So somebody comes in with a fracture and before you leave  the operating room you can see on the X-ray and also just looking at the patient that you have  fixed their fracture. One of the first things that I like to ask patients when they come  to see me in clinic is what brought you to clinic today. A lot of times that leads  into goals that they have as far as what kind of care they’re seeking or what kind of  activities they would like to return to. One of my favorite things about my practice  at UAMS is that we see patients of all backgrounds and all age groups so I do see some  pediatric patients in my clinic although a lot of those patients go to children’s hospital to  see my partner Dr. Matthews. We see everybody,
in every condition. There’s really nobody that  we don’t see for a lower extremity problem. So my goal is for people to leave my clinic or finish  their care with me and having had their goals met whether that’s through operative or non-operative  treatment. The first question that we ask when to come to clinic is what brings you here today and  we’re hopeful that we can take care of whatever it is that brought you to our clinic and get you  back to the life that you want to live.
