Video: UAMS Health - Body Scan

Transcript

Sometimes life gets tough and emotions get confusing. To get better at knowing what you feel and how to help yourself, do a body scan. First turn off your phone, take a few deep breaths into your belly then breathe at a normal pace. Scan yourself like an x-ray starting at your feet. How do they feel? Cold, hot? Are they connected to the ground? Let the x-rays move through your legs; think about the muscles and the
surface of your skin. Do they feel tense or relaxed? Now scan your lower back and stomach. Do you feel your stomach rumbling or your muscles moving? Scan your fingers, hands and arms. How do your
clothes feel against your skin? Move up to your chest and shoulders. Do they feel tense or are they
relaxed? Finally let the x-rays pass through your neck,  your jaw,  your cheeks,  your eyes,  and your forehead. How do they feel? Are they heavy? Are they light? Are you feeling something totally different
when you’ve scanned from head to toe than your body for all the work it’s doing? Now that you have a clearer picture of how you’re feeling you can make better decisions.
