As a mother, one of the best things that only you can do for your baby is to breastfeed. Breastfeeding is more than a lifestyle choice – it is an important health choice. Any amount of time that you can breastfeed will help both you and your baby. At UAMS, we provide lactation services for new mothers who are interested in breastfeeding.
As one component of our specialized services, we can teach you to breastfeed, help you start pumping or simply answer whatever questions you may have. We can help with common problems that new mothers may experience.
Our caring staff members will automatically see new mothers in their rooms if we know that they desire to breastfeed or use a pump. We will also continue to see mothers in the NICU if your baby stays there.
Additional Breastfeeding Resources
We offer breastfeeding classes for mothers before the baby is born. Expectant mothers will learn valuable information, including the advantages and the proper techniques. For your convenience, you can register online for this class.
After you are at home with your new baby, our staff is available to answer any questions you may have.
