Treatment/Procedure: De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis

De Quervain’s tenosynovitis is a painful condition that affects the tendons on the thumb side of your wrist.

Symptoms can include pain near the base of the thumb or along the wrist (worse with movement or gripping), swelling around the wrist, sometimes a visible bump, sticking” or catching sensation when moving the thumb, and difficulty grasping or pinching objects.

De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis is diagnosed often by a physical exam, usually a Finkelstein test (bending the thumb into the palm and moving the wrist downward causes sharp pain).
