The Simulation Center’s physical plant encompasses over 7,500 square feet, comprised of seven Simulation Theaters (ST), five Debriefing Classrooms and a Procedure Training Room (PTR) designed for specific repetitive procedure tasks. Each theater is equipped with 2 cameras per bed/work station, one for over-head viewing and one panoramic wall mounted unit. Comprehensive sound recording within each theater allows for two-way communication between the theater participants and the separate operator/trainer control room. Through the Center’s use of state-of-the-art computer enhanced simulated patient manikins and an unerring attention for accurate theater set-up detail, we provide our participants an authentic experience within their designed discipline.
Control Rooms
There is an observation room adjacent to each exam room that allows direct, real-time, yet unobtrusive evaluation of standardized patient encounters.
Simulation Theaters
The Simulation Center has seven fully-equipped medical simulation theaters for use with the hi-fidelity manikins. The theaters are controlled by a central simulation control center where our simulation specialist can create a variety of scenarios to help medical students, emergency responders, nursing students and other health care professionals further develop their skills in a controlled environment.
Debriefing Rooms
The Simulation Center has five debriefing rooms for post-simulation meetings. These high-tech meeting rooms feature widescreen televisions and fully networked video playback systems to allow for a full breakdown of the simulation and additional teaching related to what happened in the simulation. Trainers and observers can even watch the simulation unfold on the television through the closed-circuit video system.
Simulation Central
The Simulation Theaters are driven by a simulation specialist that controls the manikins and the scenarios to be carried out in the simulation experience. This control room allows the simulation specialist to monitor the simulation manikins and change the scenario in real time as the training happens.
As with any training facility, the more information that can be derived from you, the instructor; a complete list of equipment needed for the scenario, the desired result from that scenario, and the number of participants, the better the Simulation Center can deliver your desired results. It is our goal to be your “go to” educational resource.
