Centers for Simulation Education

The mission of the Centers for Simulation Education is to provide high-quality simulation for current and future healthcare professionals.  The Centers for Simulation Education allow UAMS to expand existing programs, launch new instructional techniques, and promote quality instruction with the goal of training competent and compassionate professionals.

To improve patient safety by promoting clinical competence. We will strive to promote clinical competence through enhancement of:

• Skills that inspires the trust of patients. These skills include communication,
  physical examination, and procedural skills.
• Clinical reasoning, including critical thinking, situational awareness, and
  clinical decisions.
• Interprofessional collaboration, including values and ethics, roles and responsibilities,
  communication, and team-based practice.

• Patient- and family-centered care, including establishing a partnership with patients and
  empowering them to make informed decisions.
• Assessing competence of undergraduate healthcare learners.

• Center for Clinical Skills Education — A simulated outpatient setting for teaching and assessment of clinical skills, including communication and physical examination using standardized patients.
• Simulation Center — A simulated inpatient setting for teaching procedural skills and case-based clinical care using procedural skills trainers, computerized human simulators, and standardized participants.
• Walker Student Clinical Education Center — A simulated outpatient setting at the UAMS Northwest Campus for teaching and assessment of clinical skills, including communication, physical examination, and procedural skills using standardized patients and procedural skills trainers.
