About Mary Ann Scott
Clinical Biography
Dr. Mary Ann Scott is a board-certified pediatric neuropsychologist with over 25 years of experience. Dr. Scott practiced and trained at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center before joining the faculty at the UAMS Health Schmieding Developmental Center. She is experienced in the evaluation of young children at high risk of neurodevelopmental problems, medically complex children, sensory impaired children and the neuropsychological evaluation of a broad range of pediatric neurologic, medical and genetic disorders. Dr. Scott is also a trained pediatric psychologist and performs differential diagnoses. Her practice is currently focused on evaluation and children and families are referred for treatment needs. She is active in neurology and neurosurgery rounds and collaborates with pediatric subspecialties to provide exceptional care. Her services are extended to non-English speaking families and children through interpreters.
Dr. Scott evaluates infants, toddlers, preschool, and school-age children for a variety of referral questions. She focuses on children with complex birth and medical histories and other issues that complicate evaluation or diagnosis. She focuses on building relationships with the child, family, and other treating providers to gain a full understanding of the child’s and family’s strengths, weaknesses, and challenges. This allows her to develop a treatment plan aimed at fostering improvement. Her primary focus is on children with neuromotor and neurological conditions, genetic conditions that impact development and complex neurobehavioral issues that require careful differential diagnosis. Epilepsy, stroke, metabolic and neurodegenerative disorders are areas of specific interest.
