About Dr. Feger
Clinical Biography
Mark Feger, M.D., Ph.D., is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic spine surgeon and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery & Rehabilitation at UAMS. He specializes in the comprehensive evaluation and treatment of a wide spectrum of spinal conditions and injuries, ranging from common back and neck pain to complex spinal disorders and deformities like scoliosis. Dr. Feger leverages the latest technologies and advancements, including minimally invasive surgery, endoscopic spinal surgery, and robotic guidance, to deliver high-quality spine care that empowers patients to live healthier, pain-free lives.
A native of Caseville, Michigan, Dr. Feger began his academic career at Albion College, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Kinesiology – Athletic Training. He then pursued advanced studies at the University of Virginia’s Curry School of Education in Charlottesville, where he obtained both a Master of Education in Kinesiology – Athletic Training and a Doctor of Philosophy in Kinesiology – Sports Medicine. His doctoral research on ankle injury rehabilitation was notably recognized with the National Athletic Trainers’ Association’s Perrin Doctoral Dissertation Award.
Dr. Feger received his medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, graduating as class valedictorian and earning numerous accolades for his exceptional academic performance. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Washington University in St. Louis and further honed his expertise through a fellowship in spine surgery at Emory University in Atlanta.
An avid researcher, Dr. Feger’s work has led to more than 35 peer-reviewed publications, 30 presentations, and several book chapters. He also actively serves as a manuscript reviewer for various journals and is a proud member of the American Colleges of Sports Medicine and the National Athletic Trainers’ Association.
