Overall, my experience with the Family Medical Center was positive. The Doctor of orthopedics (DO) I saw was personable, friendly, and knowledgeable. He did not dismiss my concerns and made me feel welcome during my time at the office. His name was Dr. Brian Mason. My main source of discomfort was the check-in receptionist and the nurse. The check-in receptionist took quite a bit of time to get me checked in (~20min), Granted, check-out also took about 15 min, but the receptionsist was more personable. The nurse I saw was polite, but moved quickly. Typically, this would be a positive attribute, but the speed in which she was moving nearly indicated that she was too busy to be concerned with her patients, which is not what I would typically expect of a nurse. With all this being said, I do not want to give names of those who did not perform as well because I do not think they should be punished or reprimanded for it. I understand that we are all human and some days just are not our day or are so busy that there is not time to slow down and be personable. I, personally, think the nurses and staff were just doing their best and that is truly all I could expect of them. I think, if UAMS wanted to boost their morale they should have a meeting with staff and discuss what could help them perform better (more staffing, more pay, other incentives). This pandemic has many of us not feeling our best, and I think it is critical that those in place of power do something to try to boost morale and help their employees thrive to the best of their abilities during this time. I, personally, would recommend this office and plan to continue to use this as my PCP, but I do think their is room for improvement within the facility.

The interaction was all positive. The only problem I had was the wait time, I was in this clinic close to 2 hours and was not expecting to be there so long.

She is real attentive. She doesn't seem to brush me off or push me to the side, when I have concerns. She is a wonderful doctor. She's a hundred percent. I love her.

I was originally told I would have a telemedicine visit. I was sent all of the emails with links to set up my visit. I really liked this option considering I'm pregnant and did not want to be at the same clinic performing the perfusions in person. However, 30 min. Prior to my appointment, someone called me to ask if I was aware my appointment was in person. I explained, no it was not, it was telemedicine. They continued to tell me that I needed to come to the clinic in person. I reiterated that I was pregnant and did not need to be around Covid positive patients if possible, as I was negative (had already been tested). They still asked that I come in person. Someone needs to look at this process so that this does not happen to someone else. I was very disappointed. There was no reason I could not have had my visit via telemedicine and limit myself from potential Covid exposure.

It was a video visit. I've had two negative covid tests with severe head congestion that has continued longer than a week. The provider called in two over the counter meds to a pharmacy. Waste of his time, my time, pharmacy time and my copay. I guess I didn't look sick.
