About Dr. Margolick
Clinical Biography
Dr. Joe Margolick is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Trauma and Critical Care at UAMS, specializing in trauma surgery, acute care surgery, critical care, and elective general surgery. He is committed to medical education and passionate about training the next generation of surgeons. His research focuses on traumatic brain injury, trauma resuscitation, simulation-based training, and global surgery. His global health efforts have taken him to underserved regions, including Haiti, Mexico City, and the Middle East.
Originally from Canada, Dr. Margolick earned his medical degree from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, and completed his general surgery residency at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. He then pursued a critical care fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern.
Since joining UAMS in 2020, Dr. Margolick has been actively involved in institutional quality improvement, research, mentorship, and surgical education. A Fellow of both the American College of Surgeons and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, his clinical practice includes trauma surgery, emergency general surgery, elective procedures, critical care, and expertise in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). He remains dedicated to providing care for some of Arkansas’ sickest and most injured patients.
