I was so thankful that they were able to get me in earlier than originally scheduled. He also gave me choices that did not include him.

The appointment with Dr. Shaefer and [NAME], the genetic counselor was conducted very professionally but I still felt very comfortable interacting with the group. I appreciated Dr. Shaefer explaining the genetics in simple terms that I could understand. He led the discussion which relieved me because I didn't really know what to ask. He addressed the genetics issues that may affect my family and he also addressed medical steps that I need to take. Several of my regular physicians had never heard of alkaptonuria so it was good to meet with someone who actually knew what it was and understood the problem and my concerns. I felt very informed after the meeting.

My experience was lovely. I kind of messed up the survey a little bit at the beginning. It did take a while to get in to see Dr. Schaffer, but that was mostly because he is so well sought after. But once I arrived, he was wonderful, funny, listened to absolutely everything I said. He was very thorough. I also messed up with the receptionist. Every receptionist I talked to over the years that I've been trying to get in has always been super nice and helpful and polite. Everybody was wonderful and sweet. I couldn't recommend them more.

We did not have any long wait time in the waiting room or while waiting for the doctor. The nurses and the doctors were amazing! They gave us all the information we needed and walked out very happy with our experience! I would recommend this clinic to anyone who is looking into genetic testing!
