Carly A. Pytel's Research
Dr. Pytel is currently working with the HEALS (Health and the Legal System) Lab at the UAMS Psychiatric Research Institute, assisting with various research projects addressing PTSD treatment in the prison systems and women’s mental health within the criminal justice system. She has conducted mixed-methods pre- and post- treatment assessments with incarcerated persons who have enrolled in a post-traumatic stress disorder treatment study to measure and track changes in symptoms and substance use over a longitudinal period. She has also observed prison staff implement cognitive processing therapy in a group setting and quantitatively coded staff’s fidelity of CPT application in each session.
