Dr. Musayeva's Research
Dr. Aytan Musayeva has a diverse range of research interests, such as corneal transplantation, ocular surface and dry eye diseases, glaucoma and retinal stress. In addition to these, she also treats keratoconus and keratitis as part of her clinical interests. Dr. Musayeva is committed to staying up-to-date with the latest information in both research and clinical care.
She is particularly interested in the emerging research on limbal stem cells. Limbal stem cell deficiency can lead to corneal damage and blindness in the eye. The application of stem cells to repair and regenerate corneal tissue can be a potential treatment for patients in the future.
Dr. Musayeva is passionate about both research and clinical work. After 11 years in the field, she still encounters new things every day. Even her colleagues with 25 years of experience agree that there is always more to learn. Dr. Musayeva stays informed about studies conducted by other university hospitals, believing it is important to understand what has been achieved and what still needs to be done. She feels this can be accomplished at UAMS.

I had never met Dr Musayeva before, so when [OTHER PROVIDER], a resident, came to examine my eyes first I thought he might have been a replacement for Dr Musayeva. He explained who he was and was also helpfully attentive to my questions. But then I didn't know if anyone else was coming as well. I was very grateful to have been seen on such short notice! If possible, it would have been nice for the tech professional who started me out at my first visit to explain how UAMS procedure goes and whom I would see first before seeing Dr M. Not a big issue, but helpful. Dr Musayeva answered my questions efficiently, but without rushing. Thank you
