COVID-19 Update
Before Coming to UAMS
If you have any symptoms of COVID-19, think you may have been exposed to someone with COVID-19, or have tested positive for COVID-19, call the UAMS appointment center at (501) 686-8000 to reschedule your appointment. You may also ask if your appointment can be done by phone or video.
Patients who have had a COVID-19 infection may have in-person appointments at UAMS 21 days after infection or a positive COVID test, as long as your symptoms are improving. Please call the clinic where your appointment is scheduled if you have any questions about coming for an in-person visit. You may be able to have an appointment by phone or video while you are waiting for clearance for an in-person visit.
What to Expect at Your Appointment
UAMS has safety measures in place to protect our patients and employees. Everyone who comes to UAMS is required to wear a mask and pass a health screening before entering the building. You will also have your temperature taken. Please wear a clean mask to your clinic visit, and do not remove it until asked to do so by a UAMS employee.
Outpatient Visitor Guidelines
Beginning March 3, 2021, one person may come to your appointment with you. You may also include a friend or family member in your appointment by phone or video chat.
If you need a wheelchair from your car to your appointment, transport staff may be available at the main UAMS campus. Contact your clinic for more information.
Please visit our COVID-19 resources to learn more about what to expect at your appointment.
About The Couples Center
Clinical Practice for Couples
Our center offers relationship counseling for troubled couples, couples in the early stages of commitment, and couples seeking to enrich their emotional and sexual connection. We work with couples of all ages and stages of relationship, and are an affirmative provider for all sexual and gender orientations.
Clinical Training for Professionals
Couples therapy differs in significant ways from individual therapy and requires specialized training. Wakefield offers a series of one-day and on-line trainings on topics related to relationship work, sex therapy, and Interdynamic Couples Therapy™️– her method of couples work. She trains clinicians and clergy who want to become competent and confident in this specialized area of service provision.
Community Workshops
We offer community Relationship Enrichment workshops for people who are motivated to make their relationships stronger, happier and healthier. We can offer an evening program, a series, or weekend workshop at your organization or place of workshop. Wakefield is also an engaging and sought after presenter for keynotes and conferences. Contact us if your organization or place of workshop is interested in booking an event with her.
