If you are sick or have a minor injury and need to talk to someone right away, you can access UAMS HealthNow for a video visit with a UAMS Health provider 8 a.m. – 8 p.m., seven days a week.
About Schmieding Kids First
Schmieding Kids First serves around 60 children and employs more than 40 staff and contractors. Pediatric specialists in many areas of expertise offer care at the Lowell center on a rotating basis, serving children with challenging medical and developmental conditions. Our clinic shares a beautiful building with physicians from UAMS Health and Arkansas Children’s Hospital.
A History of Our Clinic
The UAMS Kids First success story in Northwest Arkansas began with the interest of the local Schmieding Foundation in providing a program of meaningful services for children and families in that area. The Schmieding Foundation provided a new building for the Diagnostic Clinic and built the present UAMS Kids First clinic. The Schmieding Foundation continues to actively support the clinic and its goals.
Appointment Information
Evaluation for enrollment at Kids First requires a referral from the child’s primary care physician.
Through the intake process, our interprofessional team of early childhood professionals, occupational, speech, and physical therapists, dietitians, and nurses works with families to conduct evaluations and collect information regarding the child and family’s strengths and needs. Results from the assessments are reviewed by the Kids First team to determine eligibility for services.
