In 2005, Daryl Pusser lost 200 pounds after undergoing gastric bypass surgery. He slowly gained back a portion of this weight but stayed active in the gym and maintained a healthy weight by watching his diet. Gym closures due to COVID-19 and stress-related eating brought him back close to his pre-surgery weight. Frustrated and worried about his health, in 2022 he asked his primary care doctor about a weight loss specialist and was referred to UAMS Health. He’s lost 89 pounds and is now back to the active lifestyle he enjoyed with his wife and daughter earlier.
“If you’re in a situation similar to mine, don’t be afraid to find a doctor … who listens and genuinely wants to help. I didn’t go for a while because I thought I was just going to hear the same old diet and exercise advice. I’m glad I found the help I needed at UAMS Health.” – Daryl Pusser, Benton
