I’m Lauren Williams and I’m a gymnast on the Arkansas gymnastics team. To be a gymnast on the Arkansas Razorbacks team is just unique, it’s very fun, it’s totally different from anything else. As a little girl this is all I ever dreamed of, and now I’m here competing. Gymnastics is a very pounding sport — we’re pounding our bodies every day on the floor. It’s really nice to know that I have a health care team like UAMS Health behind my back to be there to support me and help me recover and heal to the best I can. Not everyone has that quick, easy access to health providers like we do — it’s nice to know that we have that. It’s real important to know that you’re going to get the best care you can in that area of your body. If you have something wrong with your knee you want the best person there to help your knee get better. If you have someone working on your knee but they’re a shoulder specialist, you’re not going to get very far in your recovery plan. It’s nice to know you have someone there that can give you all the resources and the tools you need to recover and be 100 percent in the facility and in the gym. The fan base here at Arkansas is just incredible. They bring great energy and it makes it a lot of fun when we’re out there competing on the competition floor.
