Courtney Gosnell was born with a congenital heart defect, had several surgeries during her childhood and continues to be monitored by Dr. Tanmay Bhamare, a UAMS faculty member and adult cardiologist at Arkansas Children’s. When she became pregnant, he referred her to the high-risk pregnancy program and cardiologist Dr. Kalaivani Sivakumar at the UAMS Health Women’s Center. Together with the maternal-fetal medicine specialist team, including Dr. Taylor Ghahremani, they watched for any complications throughout her pregnancy and carefully planned for a successful delivery in December 2024. Gosnell and baby Chloe are both doing great.
“It’s easy to just wish your pregnancy is all over with. Your body is building a tiny human from scratch, and that is something that needs to be celebrated all the way to the end. My team at UAMS Health helped me enjoy this journey and, now, motherhood too!” – Courtney Gosnell, Benton
