Additional Quality Measures
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the National Patient Safety Guidelines, through the hospital-accrediting Joint Commission, have determined Core Quality Measures based on recommended treatments in four measurement areas. The UAMS Medical Center submits data related to these Core Measures to be compiled and measured with hospitals at the state and national level.
In addition to these core measurement areas, UAMS also tracks treatment quality information for Breast Cancer. These quality measures helps ensure we continue to provide the best care for our patients. UAMS tracks data based on research and recommendations from some of the leading clinical research and health care organizations in the nation, such as the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation, the National Cancer Institute, the American Board of Medical Specialties and the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies.
