Meckel’s Scan is a nuclear medicine imaging test used to detect the presence of a Meckel’s diverticulum. This diverticulum is a small pouch in the wall of the small intestine that is a congenital abnormality present from birth. A Meckel’s diverticulum can contain gastric mucosa (stomach lining cells), which can secrete acid and cause ulcers or bleeding in the intestines.
