About Dr. Palys
Clinical Biography
Viktoras Palys, M.D., received his medical degree cum laude from Kaunas Medical University, Lithuania, followed by general surgery residency training at Lithuanian University of Health Sciences, Kaunas. Later, Dr. Palys completed his general surgery internship at the University of Illinois at Chicago, Metropolitan Group Hospitals, and neurosurgery residency training at Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond. He also obtained additional functional and stereotactic neurosurgery training at Virginia Commonwealth University’s Committee on Advanced Subspecialty Training (CAST)-accredited fellowship, directed by Dr. Prof. Kathryn L. Holloway.
Dr. Palys’ main clinical and academic interests include neurosurgical treatment for epilepsy, movement disorders, pain disorders and certain psychiatric disorders through a combination of traditional evidence-based neurosurgical techniques and Gamma Knife radiosurgery along with the newest technologies, such as laser tissue ablation, responsive neurostimulation (Neuropace), vagal nerve stimulation (VNS), and deep brain stimulation (DBS), utilizing the robotic approaches.
