Dr. Baty's Academic Background
Academic Biography
Dr. Timothy Baty spent much of his childhood in Widener, Arkansas, a rural community of approximately 400 people, before moving to Wynne. He graduated from Forrest City High School and attended the University of Central Arkansas for his undergraduate education. He later attended the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro as a member of its inaugural class. Dr. Baty completed his family medicine residency at the UAMS North Central Regional Campus in Batesville, where he served as chief resident.
Following residency, Dr. Baty returned to eastern Arkansas and practiced in outpatient primary care, hospital medicine, and hospice and palliative care. He later returned to Batesville as the first graduate of the UAMS North Central Regional Campus residency program to join its faculty.
Dr. Baty’s interest in family medicine and preventive care is deeply personal. His father was diagnosed with colon cancer at a young age and ultimately passed away from the disease, an experience that shaped his commitment to prevention and early detection. Growing up in rural Arkansas also gave him an appreciation for the important role family physicians play in their communities. His clinical interests include preventive and lifestyle medicine, chronic disease management, and deprescribing medications when appropriate.
Dr. Baty enjoys medical education and has worked with medical students throughout his career. Having trained at the UAMS North Central Regional Campus himself, he particularly values the opportunity to return as a faculty member and help educate future physicians who will serve communities throughout Arkansas.
Dr. Baty and his wife, Alexis, live in the Batesville area with their two dogs. Outside of medicine, he enjoys gardening and landscaping, home improvement projects, gaming, and spending time with his family.
