First and foremost, Tesa is AMAZING! I have been seeing her for YEARS and would never want to use anyone else for my GYN Care. Tesa had a new nurse yesterday (or at least I have never met her) and she was very kind and informative. My issue is with the front desk staff on the ground floor. I received many messages/notifications for my scheduled visit which I confirmed. Once I got to the Women's Clinic for my scheduled appointment, I was told that I couldn't be seen because I had tested positive for CV-19 14 days earlier. They told me they would have to reschedule my appointment to Tesa's next available. I am very unhappy with the level of service. There was no apology - there was no listening to me - there was no customer service provided. Nowhere in any of the information I received for this visit did it state that I couldn't be seen due to having CV-19. What is worse is that I am a UAMS employee and I was cleared to return to work 5 days after my positive covid test. I was told that I had to be 15 days past my positive covid test in order to be seen unless the provider approved it. Thankfully, it was approved by my provider and I was able to be seen. The issue comes back to the rudeness of the front desk staff and the fact that the information I was told AFTER I drove all the way over to the clinic and took the morning off of work is not a CDC or UAMS recommendation/requirement. This needs to be addressed and if in fact, UAMS does have these policies - it should be clearly stated in the communication that is sent out to the patients. Even worse, the girl sitting at the front desk on the 2nd floor was coughing and 3 patients in the waiting room were coughing/sneezing/sniffling. But yet they were trying to turn me away because I had CV-19 in the past 14 days and I HAVE NO SYMPTOMS. It is very frustrating to check-in for an appointment that you have had scheduled for an entire year and be turned away. I was seen for my appointment and the appointment went well. Once again, Tesa is AMAZING. Please provide this feedback to your front desk staff. Please train them to be kind and empathetic towards others. Train them to listen to what the patients are saying. The girl that checked me in was clearly ignoring everything I was saying. Furthermore - this is not the first time I have had a bad experience with the front desk staff at a UAMS clinic. However, this is the first time I have written about it. UAMS is better than this. UAMS patients deserve higher quality service.
