About Dr. Pandey
Tarun Pandey, M.D., is a Professor of Radiology in the Department of Radiology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and specializes in Musculoskeletal Radiology/ Body MRI and Cardiac Imaging. He is the Fellowship Director of the Body MRI/MSK imaging fellowship. Dr. Pandey Joined staff at UAMS in 2007.
He graduated from medical school from the Institute of Medical Sciences, a prestigious institution in India and part of one of the oldest universities in Asia, Banaras Hindu University. Dr. Pandey holds the rare distinction of obtaining board certification in Radiology in three different continents (Asia, Europe and America). Prior to joining UAMS, Dr. Pandey had 7 years of work experience in Tata Memorial Hospital, one of the leading cancer hospitals in Asia and Al-Razi Hospital Kuwait, a premier subspecialty hospital dedicated to orthopedics and trauma in the Middle East. He is fellowship trained in Musculoskeletal Radiology, MRI, Cardiac and Body imaging. Dr. Pandey is one of the only radiologists in the state who performs and interprets musculoskeletal ultrasound examinations.
Dr. Pandey has an excellent academic track record. He was the recipient of the University Gold Medal from the Banaras Hindu University for topping his medical school class in 1996. He also received Gold Medals for obtaining highest aggregate scores in the disciplines of Surgery, Medicine and Obstetrics and Gynecology. His research paper during residency was awarded the N Ramdas Award in 2000, the highest national research paper award given to a radiology resident in India. After joining UAMS, Dr. Pandey has been honored with several accolades. He is the recipient of the Charles K Roberts Professionalism award, three times winner of the Deans Educational Excellence Award, recipient of the RAD award and five-time winner of the RSNA Certificate of Merit. He is the recipient of the Best Radiology Teacher and was also one of the top 25 radiologist worldwide who were selected for the ARRS clinical Educator Development Program. Dr. Pandey has more than 160 peer reviewed publications, presentations, exhibits and book chapters and has authored three radiology textbooks. He holds professional memberships of a multitude of societies. He is an honorary member of the European Society of Radiology. In 2018, Dr. Pandey was awarded the NRI “Bhartiya Ratna” Award by Uttar Pradesh (U.P.) government. This is the highest civilian award given to a non-resident Indian by the Govt. for excellence in career, education, research and community service.
Dr. Pandey is a member of the American College of Radiology, Arkansas Radiological Society, Radiological Society of North America, Society of Skeletal Radiology, North American Society of Cardiovascular Imaging and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists, UK.
